Why Apple Seeds Should Be Avoided
Apple seeds contain amygdalin, which releases small amounts of cyanide when chewed and digested. While a few seeds are unlikely to cause problems in a large dog, they should always be removed before feeding apples. The seeds are also small enough to be a choking hazard for small breeds. The core should be removed entirely as it is tough and indigestible. Apple flesh is perfectly safe and nutritious — just remove the seeds and core first.
