Why Cheese (Large amounts) Should Be Avoided
Small amounts of plain cheese are fine for most dogs and can be useful for hiding medication. However, large amounts can cause problems due to high fat content (risking pancreatitis) and lactose (causing digestive upset). Avoid blue cheese — it contains roquefortine C which can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, and seizures. Low-fat options like mozzarella or cottage cheese are better choices. Always check that cheese products do not contain onion, garlic, or chives.
