Why Chives Is Dangerous
Chives are a member of the allium family and are toxic to dogs, just like onions and garlic. They contain the same compounds that damage red blood cells. Even small amounts consumed regularly can cause cumulative toxicity. Chives are commonly grown in gardens and herb pots — keep them out of reach. All forms are toxic: fresh, dried, or cooked. Symptoms include lethargy, weakness, and digestive upset.
