Can Dogs Eat Citrus (Large amounts)?

🍋
⚠ Caution — Low Risk

Stems, leaves, peels contain oils that cause upset.

Why Citrus (Large amounts) Should Be Avoided

While small amounts of citrus flesh (orange, tangerine) are safe, large amounts of citrus can cause digestive upset due to citric acid and essential oils. The stems, leaves, peels, and seeds of citrus plants contain higher concentrations of these compounds and should be avoided entirely. Lemon and lime are more acidic than oranges and more likely to cause problems. Citrus essential oils are toxic to dogs — never apply them topically or use diffusers around dogs.
