Why It's Dangerous

Protein bars often contain chocolate coatings and are sometimes sweetened with xylitol, particularly in low-sugar or diet varieties, both of which are genuinely toxic to dogs.

Symptoms to Watch For

  • If xylitol present: collapse, weakness, seizures from low blood sugar
  • If chocolate present: restlessness, rapid heart rate, tremors
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea

Vet Guidance

Check the ingredients urgently for xylitol and chocolate content. If either is present, contact your vet immediately as an emergency.
