Why It's Dangerous
Most sports drinks don't contain caffeine but are high in sugar and electrolytes, primarily sodium. Large amounts can contribute to excess sugar and salt intake, though the effect is usually much milder than caffeinated drinks.
Symptoms to Watch For
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Excessive thirst if a large amount was drunk
- Mild lethargy
Vet Guidance
Monitor for digestive upset. Offer plain water instead. Contact your vet if a large quantity was consumed or symptoms persist.
