Can Dogs Eat Fat Trimmings?

🥩
⚠ Caution — Low Risk

Can cause pancreatitis. Avoid fatty scraps.

Why Fat Trimmings Should Be Avoided

Fat trimmings from meat (both cooked and uncooked) can cause pancreatitis in dogs — a painful and potentially life-threatening inflammation of the pancreas. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and lethargy. Some breeds (Miniature Schnauzers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels) are particularly prone to pancreatitis. Always trim visible fat from meat before feeding and dispose of trimmings in a secure bin.
