✗ Toxic — Dangerous

Causes weakness, vomiting, tremors, hyperthermia.

Why Macadamia Nuts Is Dangerous

Macadamia nuts are toxic to dogs, though the exact toxin has not been identified. As few as 6 nuts can make a dog severely ill. Symptoms typically appear within 12 hours and include weakness (especially hind legs), vomiting, tremors, hyperthermia (elevated body temperature), and inability to walk. While macadamia nut toxicity is rarely fatal on its own, it becomes much more dangerous when combined with chocolate (as in chocolate-covered macadamias). Most dogs recover within 48 hours with veterinary supportive care.
