Why Milk & Dairy Should Be Avoided
Many dogs are lactose intolerant — they lack sufficient lactase enzyme to properly digest milk sugar. Symptoms include diarrhoea, vomiting, gas, and abdominal discomfort. While not toxic, regular dairy consumption can cause ongoing digestive issues. Some dogs tolerate small amounts of dairy better than others. Goat's milk is sometimes better tolerated. If your dog enjoys dairy, opt for small amounts of plain yogurt or cottage cheese which are lower in lactose.
