⚠ Toxic — Moderate Risk

Contains myristicin. Causes hallucinations, seizures.

Why Nutmeg Should Be Avoided

Nutmeg contains myristicin, a compound that is toxic to dogs. Ingestion can cause hallucinations, increased heart rate, disorientation, high blood pressure, abdominal pain, dry mouth, and seizures. Symptoms can last up to 48 hours. While a dog is unlikely to eat whole nutmeg, it is commonly used in baked goods, lattes, and seasonal foods (eggnog, pumpkin spice). Keep nutmeg-containing foods away from dogs.
