Why Potato (Raw/Green) Should Be Avoided
Raw potatoes and green potatoes contain solanine, a toxic glycoalkaloid. Green patches on potatoes indicate high solanine levels. Symptoms of solanine poisoning include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, and confusion. Cooked potatoes (boiled, baked, or mashed without butter or seasoning) are safe because cooking reduces solanine levels significantly. Never feed green, raw, or sprouted potatoes. Potato skins should also be avoided.
