Why Salt (Excess) Should Be Avoided

While small amounts of salt are a normal part of a dog's diet, excessive salt intake can cause sodium ion poisoning. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, depression, tremors, elevated body temperature, and seizures. In severe cases, it can be fatal. Sources of dangerous salt include table salt, soy sauce, salted snacks, play dough, and rock salt used on icy roads in winter. Ensure fresh water is always available.
