Handling and Feeding Tips

Discard the moment it splinters or gets small enough to swallow. Not for puppies under 6 months, senior dogs, or dogs with dental disease - the extreme hardness carries a genuine tooth-fracture risk.

What to Watch Out For

Very hard and can crack teeth, particularly in older dogs or those with dental disease. Whole antlers are the hardest; split antlers are slightly softer. Avoid for puppies under 6 months. Monitor for tooth cracking. Note: some retailers also sell a separate "puppy" antler chew marketed from 4 months - that is not what this page recommends, and the same fracture risk applies to it.

Best For

Adult dogs and heavy chewers. Not suitable for puppies, senior dogs with worn teeth, or dogs with dental problems.
